Gwynedd Supporting National Financial Capability Week
As a part of the national Financial Capability week (14-20 November) a project to defeat poverty in Gwynedd will hold drop in sessions to raise awareness on finances and how to save money amongst the public.
The week aims to raise awareness about the importance of those organizations that try to make a difference. The campaign will also help to provide advice to the public on how to deal with their money and be penny wise.
As a part of the week, drop in sessions will be held with partners including Gwynedd Council, Barnados, CAB, Gwytnwch Ddigidol, Shelter Cymru, Nyth, Welsh Water, SP Energy Network, Age Cymru, Cynefin Group and Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd.
Councillor Mandy Williams-Davies, Cabinet Member for Economy at Gwynedd Council said:
“The National Financial Capability Week is giving members of the public in Gwynedd an opportunity to receive financial advice and support on their financial situations. We really hope that these drop in sessions will prove useful to Gwynedd residents and will give people a chance to receive useful information on how to be penny wise.
“In a time where individuals and families feel the financial pressures that can affect health and quality of life, raising awareness, providing support and leadership to enable people to deal with unexpected financial situations is extremely important.”
A recent survey has shown that four in ten adults are not in control of their finances; one in five cannot read a bank statement and four in ten have less than £500 in savings.
The drop in sessions will include information about home finaces, saving money online as well as top tips on Christmas shopping this year. The sessions in Gwynedd will be held at:
- Pendre Hall, Brook Street, Tywyn – 14 November. 10:30am-13:30pm
- Drindod Chapel, Pwllheli – 16 November. 10:30am-13:30pm
