Pupils From Ysgol Pont Y Gof And Abersoch Collect Money And Get Fit

Pupils from Ysgol Pont y Gof and Ysgol Abersoch taking part in the triathlon ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Children from Ysgol Pont y Gof, Botwnnog and Ysgol Abersoch recently participated in a triathlon at Dwyfor Leisure Centre, Pwllheli. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The aim of the event was to raise money for Sport Relief and the schools as well as teaching the children about the importance of keeping fit and healthy. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The children enjoyed swimming, cycling and running during the event. The youngest pupils from the schools enjoyed cycling around the hall while the oldest children enjoyed a cycling class on the ‘trixter’ bike by Tomos from the Centre. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Janet Roberts from Ysgol Pont y Gof said: “We decided not to run the triathlon as a competition but provide an opportunity for all the school children to enjoy participating in energetic activities.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Carys Ferris, Area Manager for Dwyfor Leisure Centre, Glaslyn, Bro Ffestiniog and Pavilion for Gwynedd Council added: “It was great to see the children enjoy participating in energetic activities and we hope that they are going to continue to stay healthy and fit.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
