Three Different Exhibitions At Storiel!

If you haven’t yet visited Storiel, why not go along to see what’s on offer – there are currently three fascinating exhibitions on display. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Storiel, the museum and gallery in Bangor is currently home to three different exhibitions – “In Snowdonia”, “Where There Is Light” and “Cleanliness is Next to Godliness”. Entry to visit Storiel is completely free of charge and the team are eager to welcome you there to enjoy. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The “In Snowdonia” exhibition presents many themes of Snowdonia in a variety of paintings, drawings, and photographs by six leading artists. The exhibition is open until 28 January 2017. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Peter Bishop, who is exhibiting with this group of artists for ‘In Snowdonia’ said: “I hope visitors will enjoy the diverse work on show from the stimulating photographs by Pete Davis on the theme of Cader Idris, intensely observed drawings and paintings of Snowdonia by Robert Newell and David Woodford, and the subtle and evocative oil paintings by Matthew Wood and Russell Gilder. The location of Storiel so close to the landscapes of Snowdonia is a great asset and I would like to say thank you for enabling this idea to become a reality by giving us all the opportunity to exhibit in this fabulous new venue.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The “Where there is Light” exhibition which is open until 14 January highlights unique lamps and lighting by 4 different designer-makers. Work by Cefyn Burgess, Ann Catrin Evans, Helen Robinson and Hannah Wardle are shown. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Councillor Mandy Williams-Davies, Gwynedd Council Cabinet Member for Economy and community said: “As a Council we are extremely proud of Storiel’s success so far. The produce and exhibitions there are creative and innovative and it’s nice to know that free entry allows everyone to have a chance to visit these exhibitions that Storiel offers.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Storiel is also presenting an exhibition called “Cleanliness is Next to Godliness”. This exhibition will be available to see up to April 2017. Using items from Storiel’s social history collection, this exhibition contemplates the historical matters of cleanliness and health, how keeping clean was a challenge without for example, washing machines to wash dirty clothes, taking care of a large family in a small, damp cottage was difficult and laborious . There’s an opportunity in the exhibition also for visitors to respond and note their own memories. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Storiel is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11am-5pm. The Building is closed on bank holidays, therefore will not be open on 27 December. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
