PERMISSION is being sought for listed Wrexham pub, The Royal Oak, to undergo re-roofing.
A planning application has been submitted to the Wrexham Council for listed building consent for the re-roofing, with the condition being described as “poor”.
The building, on High Street in the centre of Wrexham, is grade II listed and according to the planning documents this means that listed building consent is required in order to re-roof the building. The listing is registered as The Embassy Public House.
The design and access statement said: “Joules has identified that the roof of the Royal Oak is in poor condition. The slates themselves are in good condition, however many have slipped and are now unsecure. The property has water ingress which over time will threaten the wellbeing of the fabric of the building.”
It was outlined in the documents that re-roofing is “required periodically in order to preserve the integrity of the building”.
The design and access statement also says: “Wrexham Council is providing financial support for this works by way of a grant.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
