“Aldi Launches Consultation for New Store in Bridgend Area”

Popular supermarket chain Aldi has launched a public consultation this month, with the aim of opening another one of its new stores in the Bridgend area.
The proposed store would be based on a patch of vacant brownfield land at Brackla Industrial Estate, if given the go-ahead by Bridgend County Borough Council’s planning authority in the coming months.
Plans say the site would be accessed from the Ffordd Cadfan roundabout, situated near the proposed Ridgeway housing development, and would bring a new Aldi food store to the area, as well as a potential £7 million of investment in to the local economy.
The site would include a single food store building, with 127 car parking spaces, including five accessible bays, nine parent & child bays, four EV charging spaces, along with “attractive landscaping around the site to enhance its appearance.”
The company says it could also create between 30 and 50 full- and part-time jobs for local people if given the green light, as well as reducing the need for local residents to travel further afield to shop.
The announcement comes just weeks after the opening of a huge new Aldi store on the beachfront in Porthcawl, however the plans show the site in Brackla would be smaller, with an area of around  1,344 square metres.
A statement o the Aldi website read: “On Tuesday, September 5, 2023, Aldi triggered the statutory pre-application consultation period, allowing the community to have their say on the proposals prior to submitting a planning application to Bridgend County Borough Council.”
The consultation will now go on until Tuesday, October 3, 2023, with Aldi welcoming feedback from locals before their submission of a full planning application later this year. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
