A new cocktail bar could be set for Bridgend town centre, after a conditional planning approval was granted by the local council.
While there are currently few details surrounding the development within the plans, it says the new bar, which will be based near the centre of town on Adare Street, will feature a licensed premises at the ground-floor level with toilets and storage space proposed on the first floor.
It will be developed in a three-storey building which was formerly used for a number of retail outlets, including a Going Places travel agent, with the report highlighting how it has been vacant for more than three years.
Plans say the site would be opened to the public from 5pm to midnight on Thursdays to Saturdays, and 5pm until 11pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays, potentially providing employment for up to four full-time employees.
The application also indicates that the shop-front which is currently boarded up will be upgraded, providing an open and clear frontage for the building which will “ensure an active use which stimulates passing trade and maintains the general interest of the shopping public”.
The plans for the three-floor property have now been approved conditionally by Bridgend County Borough’s planning authority, with no objections received from local members, Bridgend Town Council, or members of the public. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
