Aber Valley Honours A ‘Forgotten Hero’
A poignant re-dedication service will take place this Sunday 8th May to remember Flight Sergeant Ronald Levis, who was killed at the start of World War II but whose name was never included on the War Memorial at Senghenydd.
With the support and assistance from Caerphilly County Borough Council, the Senghenydd War Memorial has been refurbished and Ronald’s name has now been added.
Thanks to the use of social media and online forums, contact was made with relatives of Ronald and relatives of his wartime sweetheart – who will both be attending the re-dedication service on 8 May (which is also the anniversary of ‘Victory in Europe Day’), starting at 10.30am.
Floral Tributes will be laid on behalf of the community of the Aber Valley by the local Heritage Group, the Community Council and also representatives from the RAF.
Following the Service light refreshments will be served in the Upstairs Function Room at The Centre, Gwern Avenue, Senghenydd.
