To celebrate Arts Week, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Countryside and Landscape’s Rural Development Team is urging local artists and crafters to get involved in an Arts Trail from Saturday 9th July to Friday 15th July in Ystrad Mynach with the Cwm a Mynydd Creatives network. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The GROUP is looking for artists and crafters to take part in an Arts Trail which will involve various artists displaying their work in venues throughout the Ystrad Mynach including local businesses such as shops and cafes as well as libraries. The deadline for artists to submit their applications is Friday 27th May. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Arts Trail entices members of the public to explore the fantastic works of art available from artists and crafters throughout the borough by going on a map-led tour of Ystrad Mynach. Visitors will have the opportunity to view a range of art work, meet artists and enjoy the host venues. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Artists across Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent are also inviting visitors to take part in a series of workshops and demonstrations throughout the week, opening up their studies and workshops for members of the public to see them at work and to ask questions. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Regeneration said: “Arts Week offers a fantastic opportunity for local artists and crafters to display their work for members of the public to view throughout Ystrad Mynach. I look forward to seeing the works of art on display”. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Displaying artwork or crafts during this exciting event will incur a cost of £10, which is used to partly fund the running of the event. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Artists and crafters who wish to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity are asked to call 01443 838632 or email rogerla@caerphilly.gov.uk for more information or to book a place. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

This event is organised by the Cwm a Mynydd Creatives and Cwm a Mynydd, a project that has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
