To achieve the ‘Green Flag’ award, members of Bedwas Junior School’s Council met with the Eco-Schools assessor and were able to evidence and outline what environmentally friendly activities the school had taken part in throughout the last year. This included taking part in regular walk/cycle to school weeks, holding a ‘low energy day’, as well as regularly using litter pickers on the yard and monitoring data to ensure the school grounds stay litter free. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The school Head, Mr Paul Warren said ‘The children of Bedwas Junior School are a credit to their community. They act as responsible citizens with a keen interest in local and global environmental issues. We are looking forward to developing our programme of environmental education even further over the next twelve months.’ ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Councillor Derek Havard, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning said ‘It is wonderful to see the hard work and commitment of pupils, staff and the wider community at Bedwas Junior School being rewarded with their second internationally recognised Eco-Schools ‘Green Flag’ award. Congratulations to all involved. ” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
