Blackwood Miners’ Institute welcomed a staggering 15,377 audience members for the festive panto season, smashing all previous ticket sales records. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The ever popular Christmas Pantomime, starring Wales’ favourite funny man and BBC Radio Wales icon Owen Money, saw audiences captivated by a tale as old as time – Beauty and the Beast. Adults and children alike were treated to an action packed family favourite complete with endless comedy. Throughout December the Rainbow Valley Productions Team performed an impressive 48 shows. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The much-loved fairy tale followed the story of the cruel, arrogant young Prince Justin who is turned into a frightful beast by a fairy who wants to teach him a lesson. The trials and tribulations of the young Prince, blended with musical numbers, slap-stick comedy and, of course, bags of audience participation, provided entertainment for multitudes of families. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Planning, Regeneration and Sustainable Development said, “It is no surprise that this superb show has surpassed last year’s ticket sales. Each year we welcome Owen Money and his production team to the county and each show is better than the last drawing audiences in their thousands.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The New Year brings a rich programme of performing arts to the ‘Stute, catering for a whole range of tastes.
