Bridges Into Work Provides A New Start In The New Year

Bridges into Work has a number of courses available for those seeking to develop or improve their skills in order to boost their employment prospects. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Bridges into Work is a project which provides support for people in South East Wales who are seeking employment or those currently in work who want to gain new skills through a variety of training courses. To date, the project has supported 131 people, with over half gaining qualifications. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Course available during January 2017 are: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

  • Emergency first aid – Tuesday 10th January – Crumlin Institute
  • Health and safety – Wednesday 11th January – Caerphilly Miners Centre
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health – Thursday 12th January – Crumlin Institute
  • Food safety – Monday 16th January – Oxford House
  • Personal license – Tuesday 17th January – Caerphilly Miners Centre
  • Manual handling – Wednesday 18th January – Oxford House
  • Emergency paediatric first aid – Saturday 21st and 28th January – Caerphilly Miners Centre
  • Security guarding – Monday 23rd to Friday 27th January – Oxford House
  • I.T. workshops are also held every Thursday at Crumlin Institute from 10am until 12pm.

All courses are free of charge. The courses are available to residents who live in; Caerphilly, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent Aneurin Leisure Trust, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Bridges into Work 2 provides opportunities for unemployed individuals to gain new skills and improve existing skills. The project is available to all residents 25 years and older who are economically inactive or unemployed and do not live in a Communities First area. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Working Skills for Adults 2 provides access to a wide variety of free courses for residents who are employed or self-employed and aged 16 or over. The project aims to increase the ownership of generic, transferable skills across the workforce through community based provision, thereby improving the opportunities for low skilled workers to sustain employment and increase their earning potential. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
