Caerphilly ‘Standing Together’ Against Domestic Violence
Residents, groups and organisations are being encouraged to join forces in ‘standing together’ against domestic violence in Caerphilly county borough through participating in a social media awareness raising campaign.
The #caerphillystandingtogether campaign aims to raise awareness of domestic violence and the support services available, and to ultimately empower anyone who is experiencing domestic violence to seek support.
As part of the campaign, which is being launched for 2016 to coincide with White Ribbon Day on 25th November, people are being asked to ‘tweet their feet’ and upload a photo of their feet to Twitter with the hashtag #caerphillystandingtogether to show they believe violence in all forms is wrong.
The council will also be tweeting throughout the campaign using the same hashtag to promote services that are available to those experiencing domestic violence and their families.
Cllr Nigel George, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Public Protection said, “This campaign aims to raise awareness of a subject which is rarely talked about but can have a devastating impact on individuals and families. We are encouraging as many people as possible to get involved and stand together with us against domestic violence, and in turn help raise awareness of the crucial support services that are available for those experiencing violence”.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please contact the All Wales Domestic Violence Helpline on 0808 80 10 800. In an emergency, always call 999.
