Celebrate St. David’s Day across Caerphilly!

St. David’s Day is a week away and there are plenty of ways to celebrate with a number of free events taking place throughout Caerphilly county borough. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

On Saturday 27 February outdoor events will take place at Bargoed, Blackwood, Caerphilly and Risca between 12pm and 2pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Visitors to Hanbury Square, Bargoed can enjoy entertainment from Markham & District Brass Band and the Rhymney Silurian Male Choir. There’ll also be the chance to hop aboard the coach which transports the Welsh Rugby Team to get a glimpse of the life of an international rugby star! ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Dragons Circle, Blackwood will come alive with the sound of Oakdale Silver Band as they play a range of Welsh classics before Mynyddislwyn Male Voice Choir perform traditional Welsh songs. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The sound of BTM Next Generation, the youth section of BTM Brass Band will ring out across Caerphilly town centre along with the voices of Aber Valley Male Voice Choir, who will lead the singing of the Welsh National Anthem. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Tredegar Park, in the heart of Risca town will play host to the 30 strong Crosskeys Silver Band and Newbridge and District Ladies Choir who will be singing a range of popular classics. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

There’ll also be free face painting and street entertainers to keep the whole family entertained. The Welsh National Anthem will be sung at all events. Come along and show your proud to be Welsh. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
