Celebrations For Panel Partnership
The Reintegration and Resettlement Panel partnership celebrates its second anniversary.
Formed in May 2014, the successful partnership, ran by The Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly Youth Offending Service (YOS), provides additional support and great opportunities to young people who have previously offended in the area.
With the support of Llamau’s Southern Wales Broker, the panel has achieved impressive outcomes by ensuring better services are available to young people, helping them to reach their goals and aspirations for the future, and ultimately stopping their offending behaviour by supporting a more productive and positive life.
By working alongside a framework called “The Seven Resettlement Pathways”, the Youth Justice Board and Welsh Government initiative follows these national guidelines to ensure a young person leads a crime free life after their involvement with the Justice System. The Resettlement Pathways include accommodation, education – employment and training, health, substance misuse, family services, finance and benefits – debt and transitions.
Cllr Robin Woodyatt, Cabinet Member for Social Services said, “Thank you to the staff for all their hard work they have put in to make the panel such a success. To see the panel’s outstanding achievements shows how vital their role is in helping previous young offenders gain skills to reach their goals, giving them the step they need for a better future. I look forward to hearing about their forthcoming accomplishments.
