Caerphilly County Borough Council’s ‘Choose the High Street Stories’ campaign has taken to the streets, with exhibitions on display throughout Caerphilly county borough. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

As a part of the exhibitions, shoppers within Caerphilly county borough are being asked to sign a pledge committing themselves to shopping locally and choosing the high street as part of their weekly shop. Those who sign the pledge will also be entered into a FREE price draw to win £50 of shopping vouchers. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The businesses that make up the county borough’s town centres each have their own story. Some have been run over generations by a single family, while others are new businesses started by someone excited to begin their own story with a fresh idea. The new initiative features stories from some local businesses across Caerphilly’s five managed town centres in order to capture some of the history for residents who visit each town centre to enjoy. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Caerphilly Library will host the exhibition for 2 weeks from Monday 22nd August. Following this, the exhibition will be on display at Risca Library from Monday 5th September for 2 weeks. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Planning, Regeneration and Sustainable Development said: “The stories which form the basis of the new ‘Choose the High Street Stories exhibitions are a fantastic way of showing the local history which is intertwined throughout our town centres. I hope that the Town Centre Management Team’s new campaign will continue to encourage shoppers to make a conscious choice to ‘Choose The High Street’ and support local businesses, as well as encouraging new businesses to see town centres as windows of opportunity.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

‘Choose the High Street Stories’ follows on from the Town Centre Management Team’s success with the ‘Choose The High Street Past and Present’ 2015 initiative. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
