Could You Take On The Great Cheese Race?
The Great Cheese Race is back for 2016 and registration is now open.
Caerphilly County Borough Council is on the hunt for teams to sign up to the challenge of a cheese themed relay, on Friday 29th July, with the first race set to begin at 6:30pm.
The race, in association with Taylor Wimpey, is held to mark the start of Caerphilly’s annual Big Cheese weekend and guarantees fun for all the family!
Teams of 4 are needed to take part, so gather your family and friends and enter in this unique experience. Adult team members must be aged 16 or over and junior team members aged between 8 and 15. All entrants must be fit and well to enter the race.
The course will take place through the main event site and over to the castle’s rear entrance and back, allowing the race to be watched by the public from the site.
Why not dress up for the occasion and put your best fancy dress costume on in the chance of winning a prize. There will also be prizes available for the winners of each race.

The Big Cheese Weekend is held in Caerphilly town centre and is a FREE event and is expected to attract over 80,000 visitors in 2016. Celebrating its 19th year the Festival is a ‘must see’ attraction, portraying its history, culture and heritage of Caerphilly.
