Caerphilly County Borough Council has outlined five key priorities for action over the forthcoming year within the Corporate Plan for 2016/17.
The Well-being Objectives form an important part of the authority’s wider priorities, which all aim to focus efforts in making improvements to services used by residents and were selected following a period of public consultation.
The focus on five priority areas will enable the authority to target resources effectively.
The five improvement objectives approved in a council meeting for 2016/17 are: –
- To help people make the best use of their household income and manage their debts
- Improve outcomes for all learners, particularly those vulnerable to under achievement
- Close the gap in life expectancy for residents between the most and least deprived areas in the borough
- Carbon Management: Reduce our carbon footprint
- Investment in Council homes to transform lives and communities
Cllr. Keith Reynolds, Leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council, said: “This document is much more than just a strategic booklet that sits on a shelf gathering dust. Our Corporate Plan is the blueprint for the way this organisation delivers its services, works with partners and aims to improve the future of communities across Caerphilly county borough”.
He continued: “This authority is improving lives, improving communities and improving our environment and I am extremely proud of what this council has achieved over the past few years, despite the significant financial pressures facing local authorities across Wales.”
The Improvement Objectives will be published as part of a Corporate Plan, which will outline the council’s longer-term priorities.
