It may only be September, but the Town Centre Management Team at Caerphilly County Borough Council are already busy gearing up for the festive period. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The council is calling on all town centre businesses in the county borough to come on board to take part in a special campaign aimed at enhancing footfall and trade on the county borough’s high streets this festive season. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Choose the High Street Christmas voucher booklet campaign aims to encourage residents and visitors to Caerphilly county borough to make a conscious choice to support local retailers and celebrate the diversity and unique offering on the county borough’s high streets. In return, business owners are being invited to submit details of a festive offer or discount in their store to the Town Centre Management team, which will be featured in a special Choose the High Street at Christmas voucher booklet. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

30,000 voucher booklets will then be distributed across the county borough – in local Morrisons and Asda supermarkets, at libraries, cash offices, tourist attractions and a number of participating stores – to encourage residents and visitors to support Caerphilly county borough traders during the important festive trading period. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Sustainable Development said, “Following the success of this campaign over the last four years, we’re once again offering traders the opportunity to get involved in our Choose the High Street at Christmas campaign. I would encourage as many local business owners as possible to get involved and submit a festive offer or discount, so that together we can work to ensure our town centres are diverse, thriving places which are well supported by residents and visitors to our county borough alike for many years to come.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Jonathan and Rachel Hopper, who run Dunbar Costumes on Pentrebane Street in Caerphilly have participated in the Christmas voucher booklet campaign for a number of years. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Rachel says, “We have seen the Christmas voucher booklet scheme grow in popularity each year and last year was really successful for us with lots of people taking our offer up and visiting the shop. This is a great way for local businesses to attract new customers and boost their Christmas sales”. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Retailers wishing to submit a discount or offer will need to get in touch with the council’s Town Centre Management team before the 30th September deadline. The Choose the High Street at Christmas voucher booklets can then be used in town centres across Caerphilly county borough between Monday 14th November and Friday 30th December. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
