With less than a week to go until the annual Ystrad Mynach Festive Fayre, excitement is building for the start of the council’s festive events programme. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The popular annual event will take place on Saturday 19th November between 10am and 5pm in the heart of the town centre – offering a selection of stalls and entertainment to suit everyone. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The entertainment programme this year is looking first class, filling the high street with fun characters, activities and much more. Entertainment ranges from reindeer, birds of prey, face painting, a festive treasure hunt, dance groups and funfair rides, as well as a dress up nativity scene and some fantastic street theatre. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Also on offer is the entertainment stage, with local bands and choirs performing traditional Christmas carols. This year, a number of local groups are welcomed back onto the stage – including Cefn Hengoed Ladies Choir, Ystrad Male Voice Choir, Melody Makers and Recrock, along with Bedwas, Trethomas and Machen Brass Band and a number of local schools. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Siloh Christian Centre will also be the place to be, hosting a Santa’s grotto where for just £1 children will get the chance to meet Father Christmas and receive a special gift. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The finale of the event, which is organised by Gelligaer Community Council and supported by Caerphilly County Borough Council, is the Christmas switch on at 4.45pm outside Siloh Christian Centre, where special guests will countdown to this annual tradition. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
