Generations Connect At Lewis School Pengam
Lewis School Pengam is welcoming the return of its successful Intergenerational Club on Wednesday 11 January.
The club allows older members of the community to spend time with pupils of Lewis School Pengam in a welcoming, safe environment. Activities on offer include board games, bingo and bowls, as well as the occasional singalong! For many, the main attraction of the club is the chance to chat and share experiences with different generations, reducing the feeling of social isolation. As well as regular meetings there are also plans for excursions to local museums and theatre shows.
Cllr. Derek Havard, Cabinet Member for Education & Lifelong Learning said: “Intergenerational clubs provide a fantastic opportunity for young people and older people to come together and share experiences. Both generations can learn so much from spending time together and it’s wonderful to see schools in Caerphilly bringing communities together.”
The Intergenerational Club meets each Wednesday, 12pm at Lewis School Pengam and the cost is £2. For more information call 01443 873873. To find out more about Intergenerational Clubs throughout Caerphilly county borough visit www.caerphillyover50.co.uk or call 01443 864 277.
