Residents and organisations from across Caerphilly county borough have recently helped identify the issues they would like the council and other public services to work on now and in the future to create ‘The Caerphilly We Want’. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Throughout the summer months, the Caerphilly Public Services Board (PSB) held a number of community events, asking people to have their say around the ‘Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act, which became law in April 2016. The Act is intended to improve the well-being of the people of Wales, and means that public services need to take into account the impact on people in Caerphilly in the future when making any decisions. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Having taken on board the feedback gained, a draft document called the ‘Wellbeing Assessment’ has been developed, and residents, community groups, businesses and any other interested parties are invited to make comments on the contents of the document. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The draft ‘Wellbeing Assessment’ can be found at https://your.caerphilly.gov.uk/publicservicesboard under the ‘Wellbeing Plan’ header. The closing date for comments is 31st January 2017, with comments being submitted to caerphillywewant@caerphilly.gov.uk ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Following this, the next stage of the process will be to narrow down the number of issues raised, in order to create the building blocks on which a document called the ‘Wellbeing Plan’ will be written. To give communities the opportunity to be involved in this process, the Caerphilly Public Services Board are organising a number of workshop events during February 2017: ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

  • Wednesday 8th February 2017, 6pm to 8:30pm, Blackwood Methodist Church (up the hill near Argos – pay and display parking available)
  • Monday 13th February 2017, 10am to 12:30pm, Elim Community Church in Pontlottyn (on the main road – on road parking only)
  • Thursday 23rd February 2017, 2pm to 4:30pm, Bedwas & Trethomas Community Hall (next to Bedwas High School – parking available)

Please note that booking for these workshop sessions is essential. For more information, or to book a place at the workshops please contact Vicki Doyle on 01443 866391 or email doylevm@caerphilly.gov.uk ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The council has also recently developed a short engaging video, where local residents are asked to give their perspective on the Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) act by describing ‘what wellbeing means to them’. The video can be found on the Caerphilly We Want website. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
