Have Your Say – A New Approach To Building Resilient Communities

A recent statement from the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children outlined the likelihood of phasing out the Communities First programme, while establishing a new approach to meet the challenges of the future.
The Communities First programme, which was launched 15 years ago, has supported many people in some of Wales’ most deprived communities, including many in Caerphilly county borough. In that time however, Wales’ economy and society has been through some huge changes, and as a result the Welsh Government is exploring a new approach to building resilient communities across Wales.
Subsequently, the Welsh Government is calling on people from right across Wales to have their say in the development of this new approach.
The Welsh Government’s new approach focuses on three priority areas – Employability, Early Years and Empowerment, and as well as asking for views on how these priorities can support greater prosperity and resilience, they are also seeking views from people who have personal experience of Communities First.
Two surveys have been developed; one for people who have personal experience of Communities First, and another for people who don’t have any personal experience of the programme:
Personal experience of Communities First: http://gov.wales/topics/people-and-communities/communities/talk-communities/yes-i-have-personal-experience-of-cf/?lang=en
No personal experience of Communities First: http://gov.wales/topics/people-and-communities/communities/talk-communities/no-i-dont-have-any-personal-experience-of-cf/?lang=en
The council is currently awaiting details of the consultation closing date from Welsh Government – this will be communicated when we have it. Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to complete this survey.
