Lights Out At Penallta House For Earth Hour 2016
Caerphilly County Borough Council will be taking part in Earth Hour 2016 by turning off all non-essential lighting from 8:30pm to 9:30pm on Saturday 19 March.
Penallta House situated in Tredomen Park will be in darkness for the whole hour during the event to show the Council’s continued commitment to this highly important cause. The annual event sees millions of people switching off the lights to their offices and homes between 8:30pm and 9:30pm on Saturday 19th March to raise awareness of climate change.
Last year, around half a million people in Wales took part in Earth Hour – including 235 schools across the country.
Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Planning, Regeneration and Sustainable Development said: “I am delighted that Caerphilly County Borough Council will be showing its commitment to tackling climate change during this worldwide event. Earth Hour serves as a reminder to us all that we have a key role to play in protecting our planet”.
