Natural Buzz At Morgan Jones Park
Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly has been chosen as the flagship location for the 2016 Natural Buzz Initiative.
This year, the initiative will see a wildflower planting take place with pollinator friendly seeds being introduced to the large mound area of Morgan Jones Park. This will support butterflies and other pollinators within the area.
The introduction of wildflower seeds within the park will support the growth of pollinators such as butterflies, who are currently in decline across Wales. Of the 43 specific of butterfly species that currently inhabit Wales, 10 species severe decline.
Cllr Ken James, Cabinet Member for Regeneration said: “I am delighted that this initiative is being implemented within Morgan Jones Park. Preparation works for this fantastic scheme have already begun and will result in a blaze of colour throughout the summer, whilst assisting biodiversity within the park.
The project aims to raise the profile of pollinators and their role in the environment through engaging communities, schools, businesses and other groups in improving green spaces for nature.
Natural Buzz is a pollinator initiative run by Keep Wales Tidy in partnership with the Horticultural Trade Association and Green Space Wales.
