Nominate Now For The Pride In Your Place Awards 2016

Only three weeks left until The Pride in Your Place Awards applications close. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Do you know someone or an organisation, who strives to improve the Caerphilly borough environment? ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Nominate them by Friday 18 November and they will be entered into the Caerphilly Pride in Your Place Awards 2016. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Awards aim to recognise individuals and groups for their hard work, innovation and commitment in helping make the Caerphilly borough a cleaner, safer, greener and better place to live and work. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Sponsored by Bryn Group and Seda International Packaging Group, the awards are open to residents, schools, businesses and community groups across the Caerphilly county borough. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Nominations can be entered into the following categories:- ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

  • Go Wild! – Rewarding wildlife and countryside work that has helped enrich biodiversity
  • Keep Up Appearances – Rewarding cleanliness and attractiveness of a business premises
  • Recycling in Schools – Rewarding resourcefulness, waste minimisation and recycling activities
  • Environmental Education – Rewarding excellence in eco project work in schools and colleges
  • Healthy living – Rewarding activities that promote healthy lifestyles
  • Sustainable Living – Rewarding innovation and excellence in transport initiatives
  • Best Community Project – Rewarding activities and events that have improved the well-being, safety and/or quality of the environment in our local communities
  • Best Kept Area – Acknowledging the efforts of a neighbourhood for improving the quality of their local environment
  • Youth Environmental Champion – Reward for an outstanding individual (aged 25 and under) who has contributed to improving the environment and the well-being of the community
  • Environmental Champion – Reward for an outstanding individual (over 25 years) who has contributed to improving the environment and the well-being of the community

Last year, our borough schools achieved great success with St James Primary School being crowned Pride in Your Place Champion 2015. The school made a huge effort to maintain their grounds as well as the appearance of Lansbury Park by organising a number of litter picks and planting events. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Deri Primary achieved an award for their recycling efforts whilst Gilfach Fargoed was awarded for their environmental education and Ty Isaf Infants for their sustainable travel projects. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The deadline for the applications is Friday 18 November. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
