The school summer holidays are upon us and are you wondering what to do with the children? Why not visit Parc Cwm Darran and join the activities which are on offer. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Each of the activities will begin at the visitors centre and will be held on Wednesday’s and Friday’s between 11am and 3pm. Starting with Pond Dipping on Friday 22nd July, children can discover what wild creatures live within our ponds and lakes, sessions are available in English and Welsh and will cost £3 per child plus art attack. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

On Wednesday 27th July, Parc Cwm Darran will be the set for Treasure Seekers who will begin their adventure to find the secret clues hidden which leads them to the X that marks the spot for the ‘wild’ treasure, tickets cost £1.50 plus art attack. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Children can discover the butterflies that call the park their home while creating their own wooden caterpillar at Caterpillar Creations on Friday 29th July, tickets cost £5 plus art attack. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Each week in August there are a number of different events for children to enjoy, beginning with Hogwoods on Wednesday 3rd August, children can learn about hedgehogs and their nocturnal habits, as well as build their own. The event costs £5 per child. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

For all budding gardeners, on Friday 5th August, Parc Cwm Darran invites children to learn about the wild flowers that grow amongst the woodland, while making a giant sunflower at Giant Sunflowers. Tickets cost £5 per child plus art attack. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Let’s go fly a micro kite, on Wednesday 10th August children are able to create their own kite and release it to see it fly through the air. Microkites tickets cost £1.50 per child. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

If your children would like to learn more about the woodland that surrounds them, bring them along to Wooden Giants on Friday 12th August, where they can learn about Parc Cwm Darran and build their own wooden guardian, tickets cost £5 plus art attack. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

On Friday 19th August, bug enthusiasts can learn about the different kinds of bugs that live in our gardens and build their own ‘bug hotel’ with Bug Chugs, tickets cost £5 plus art attack. Or if your child would prefer to learn about how we can look after our woodlands and make creations using by-products of our woodland, come along to Wonderful Wood and windy things on Friday 26th August, tickets cost £5 per child plus art attack. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
