Plan Ahead For Velothon Road Closures
The Velothon Wales cycle event returns to the roads of South Wales on Sunday 22nd May 2016 and Caerphilly council is urging residents to plan ahead.
The event will once again welcome up to 15,000 recreational participants and charity fundraisers, as well as some of the world best cyclists.
Due to the scale of the event, it will be necessary to implement road closures along the length of the 140km route to allow the safe passage of the participants.
Some key roads in the Caerphilly county borough will be completely closed to traffic for long periods throughout day with some closures in place between approx. 8.30am and 6.00pm.
There will also be significant disruption to most bus routes in these areas from the start of the day until approximately 7pm.
Residents are urged to plan ahead and make alternative arrangements wherever possible. Anyone with issues on the day, such as formal events, carer responsibilities or holiday travel, should contact the Velothon helpline on 029 21 660 790. The organisers will do all they can to assist and provide more information on how to best navigate around the road closures.
Velothon Wales apologises in advance for any inconvenience the event may cause and will try to keep disruption to a minimum.
