Safe Cycling For Big Cheese Winner

Congratulations to Elise Collins from Whitchurch, Cardiff who was the lucky winner of the Road Safety Competition at this year’s Big Cheese. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Over 1,500 people visited the Road safety Team’s marquee at this year’s event to find out more about the many projects that take place across Caerphilly, and get tips for how they can stay safe as a driver, pedestrian or cyclist. Visitors had the chance to enter a free prize draw for their chance to win a brand new mountain bike. The lucky winner was ten year old Elise Collins from Whitchurch. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Tom Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways, Transportation and Engineering, who presented Elise with her prize said: “It is fantastic that we were able to get important messages about safety on the highways across to people who visited the Big Cheese. Congratulations to Elise for winning the bike, I hope the family enjoy many bike rides together.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Elise’s mother, Karen Collins, said “We had such a lovely time at the Big Cheese our children learnt so much at the Road Safety marquee and the staff were very friendly and of course the icing on the cake was we won this fabulous bike”. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Road Safety Team manages many projects including National Standards Cycle Training, Safe Routes to School, Kerbcraft, Megadrive, Pass Plus Cymru and Junior Road Safety Officers. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
