Thanks For Your Green Efforts
The latest recycling figures for Wales show that Caerphilly council has exceeded its recycling target for 2015/16 thanks to the efforts of green residents across the area.
Councils were challenged by Welsh Government to hit a target of 58% in 2015/16, but Caerphilly exceeded this target with a figure of 62%.
Cllr Nigel George, Caerphilly’s Cabinet member for Community Services said, “We welcome these latest recycling figures and would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to all the residents across the county borough who are doing their bit to help us reach these ambitious targets.”
“We also recognise that there is still work to do and we are currently focussing attention on further increasing food waste recycling. By working together we can boost our recycling rates in the future and make Caerphilly one of the greenest places in Wales,” he added.
The authority is currently visiting every home across the county borough to encourage more residents to recycle – especially their food waste.
A team of recycling officers are visiting over 74,000 homes, providing free replacement food waste bins to those who do not have one. Staff are also providing advice and leaflets about recycling and collection arrangements to residents.
