As the weather starts to turn colder and winter takes hold, Caerphilly county borough council is keen to highlight the wealth of information and advice that is available to residents across the area. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

To link in with the Met Office ‘Get Ready for Winter’ initiative 2016/17, the council has a number of pages on its website providing useful tips and handy hints to help residents and businesses deal with severe weather. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The pages cover such topics as; ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

  • Steps you can take to reduce the impact of severe weather on your family and home
  • Getting around safely
  • Looking after yourself in the winter months
  • How to help vulnerable friends, family and neighbours
  • Useful links and telephone numbers, and
  • How to keep up to date with the current weather and travel conditions.

This year we have also included a page on ‘what to do in a power cut’ which, in addition to providing some simple precautions to take to help prepare and deal with a power cut, gives information on the new telephone number (105) which has been introduced by electricity network operators to provide a local single point of contact for help during a power cut. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

In addition to useful advice to residents and businesses, the Council’s website also provides information on our winter provisions, including winter road treatment, and in the event of severe weather, any disruptions to the services we provide. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
