WEEE Competition Announces Winners
As part of a new recycling initiative, Caerphilly council recently launched a competition to encourage the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment.
The competition invited residents to take their unwanted electrical and electronic equipment to Trehir, Penmaen, Full Moon, Rhymney, Penallta or Aberbargoed Household Waste Recycling Centres where they were then asked to enter the competition to win an Amazon tablet or £20 Amazon vouchers.
Overall there were 6 winners and 6 runners-up randomly selected at each of the chosen Household Waste Recycling Centres in the Caerphilly borough.
Cllr Nigel George, cabinet member for community and leisure services said, “With our latest recycling figures exceeding our 2015/2016 target it is great to see we are keeping up the good work through different initiatives. Thank you to all the residents involved, and thank you to those throughout the borough, who have helped by doing their bit to reach our ambitious recycling target.”
The council has also been actively encouraging people to recycle through their latest campaign ‘Is yours a sin bin?’ A series of videos have been produced to raise awareness and show residents the correct way to recycle.
