Work To Create 3G Pitch Kicks Off In Caerphilly
The development of a new 3G pitch is well underway at Caerphilly’s new Y Gwyndy school campus.
The new rugby and football pitch will be fenced and flood lit. Adjacent to this will be specialised areas for a number of sports including long jump and shot put which have all been designed in-house by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Building Consultancy team.
The 3G pitch is phase 4 of the Y Gwyndy school campus development in Caerphilly, which has previously seen the development of new school buildings for the pupils of Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Caerffili and local pupils of Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni.
The facilities will be available to the community as well as the school.
Cllr Derek Havard, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning said: “The new 3G pitch at the Y Gwyndy campus will provide Caerphilly with another fantastic resource which can be used by both pupils and the wider community. The pitch will provide a consistent surface suitable for a variety of sports which can be used in most weathers. Thank you to Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Building Consultancy Team for their fantastic design and to the contractors Andrew Scott Ltd for carrying out the works”.
The new 3G pitch forms part of the 21st Century schools programme and is jointly funded by Caerphilly County Borough Council and Welsh Assembly Government.
