Youth Service’s First LGBTQ+ Meeting Is A Success
The launch of Caerphilly Youth Service’s new project to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and other young people (LGBTQ+) who are questioning their gender and/or sexuality has been hailed a huge success.
The first LGBTQ+ group session was held on Saturday 30th July and was attended by several young people.
Further sessions will be held on the last Saturday of every month at Blackwood Basement at Blackwood Library. The next session is scheduled for Saturday 27th August between 12pm and 3pm.
Cllr Derek Havard, Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning said: “Well done to everyone involved in Caerphilly Youth Service’s new LGBTQ+ project to support young people during what can be a difficult and turbulent time. I hope that the new project continues to provide vital advice and support to those young people in need”.
Cllr Mike Prew, Caerphilly’s Young People’s Champion said: “I am delighted that the first LGBTQ+ session was a success. I hope that the sessions continue to provide support and advice to young people when they need it most”.
