2 Of Wales’ 10 Best Places Are In Cardiff!

Cardiff Bay Inner Harbour and The Hayes have been named amongst the ten finalists aiming to be crowned Wales’ Best Place in a competition run by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Cymru. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The top ten best places in Wales have been whittled down by the Wales Best Places Judging Panel from over 200 public nominations. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The other finalists are: ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

• Aberaeron, Ceredigion
• Caernarfon, Gwynedd
• Denbigh, Denbighshire
• Gower, Swansea
• Llandudno Promenade and Mostyn Street, Conwy County Borough
• Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre, Merthyr Tydfil
• Snowdonia, Conwy and Gwynedd
• Tenby, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The competition aims to celebrate some of our most attractive and inspiring places and the role planners have played in helping protect and shape them. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cabinet Member for Transport, Planning and Sustainability, Councillor Ramesh Patel, said: “The development of The Hayes and Cardiff Bay has been part of a process that has helped transform Cardiff into the modern, liveable city it is today. I’m delighted that the role our planners have played in that process has been recognised by the public and the competition judges. Two entries in the top ten is fantastic for the city – now we just need as many people as possible to vote for one of these two spots so we can proudly say that Wales’ Best Place is in Cardiff!” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
