A section of Newport Road (inbound) will be closed on Sunday March 13 between 9 am and 8pm

On Sunday March 13, a small section of Newport Road, inbound by Cardiff Royal Infirmary, will be closed between 9 am and 8 pm to allow for a pedestrian improvement scheme. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Road users coming along Newport Road into the city centre on this date will not be able to continue past the Glossop Road junction, so we advise to follow the diversion signs via Glossop Road, along Moira Terrace, then up Fitzalan Place and which links back onto Newport Road into the city centre. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

These preliminary works will allow the Council to continue to put in the foundations to improve the current pedestrian/cycle facilities on this part of Newport Road. This involves constructing a four meter wide central reservation to allow for a four meter wide staggered Toucan Crossing to be installed. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
