City Of Cardiff Council Honoured For Procurement Excellence
The City of Cardiff Council has been honoured alongside the Welsh procurement elite at the inaugural Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Wales for 2016/17.
Held at the Marriott Hotel, Cardiff, the GO Awards are the UK’s premier procurement awards and for the first time, they have come to Wales, in acknowledgement of the country’s fantastic procurement initiatives.
The City Council won the Procurement Innovation or Initiative of the Year award for its work in establishing a local authority trading company to deliver procurement and commercial services and was highly commended in the Collaboration category for the procurement of the authority’s Supported Living Service.
Cabinet Member for Corporate Services and Performance, Cllr Graham Hinchey, said: “We are very proud to have won this GO Award. I was delighted to be with the team hen they collected the award as they are the benchmark by which progress in this £5 billion plus sector in Wales is measured.
“We could not be happier with our team; they have set up a local authority training company – Atebion Solutions, delivered truly innovative procurement solutions and are true experts in their field. This award is the outcome of four or five very hard years of work.”
