Community Fun Day at Grangetown Hub

Grangetown Hub promises to be even busier than usual on Thursday afternoon when the city’s newest ‘one-stop shop’ facility celebrates its official launch with a community fun day.
There will be a lot going on during the event which will take place on Thursday, March 3 (2-5pm), including balloon modelling, storytime, a Bollywood Zumba taster session, animal corner and live music.
There’ll be plenty to tempt visitors’ tastebuds with food stalls and taster platters while community groups and organisations will also be there to provide information and details about volunteering opportunities.
Cabinet Member for Community Development, Co-operatives and Social Enterprise, Cllr Peter Bradbury, said: “Hot on the heels of our community fun day at Rumney Partnership Hub, I’m looking forward to another opportunity to celebrate our fantastic new community facility in Grangetown.
“There will be lots of free family fun activities and if people in the area haven’t visited yet, Thursday afternoon will be the perfect opportunity to find out more about the services on offer at the hub.”
Grangetown Hub on Havelock Place opened in January, following extension and refurbishment works to the former library building.
Trained staff are available six days a week in the hub to help people access a wide range of Council and partner services including a full library service, housing and benefits advice, into work services, a coffee shop run by BRG Communities First and a community room, which will be officially named by St Paul’s Church in Wales Primary School at the community fun day.
The new facility also boasts an IT suite, free PCs, internet and Wi-Fi access and free phones to contact Council and other services while Citizens Advice and Communities First are also on hand.
