Full Travel Advice For The Beyoncé Concert On June 30
A full road closure will be in place in Cardiff City Centre from 6.00pm until 11.30pm on June 30th for the Beyoncé concert at the Principality Stadium.
With over 55 000 tickets already sold, everyone is being advised that enhanced security measures will be in operation to enter the stadium. If you bring a bag, expect to be searched and be advised that this may delay you from getting into the stadium on time.
Given the additional security arrangements, the Authorities are advising concert-goers to leave plenty of time for your journey to get into the city centre and the stadium.
Due to Marland Street being closed for the ongoing regeneration of Central Square – Arriva Trains Wales are advising customers that there will be a different queuing system in place for this concert (attached) and all customers are being advised to view the map in advance, know which que to join after the event and head towards the station at a reasonable time.
Cllr Ramesh Patel, Cabinet Member for Transport and Sustainability, said: “If you are not using public transport, we advise everyone to consider the park and ride facilities to beat the congestion and make your visit into the city centre more enjoyable. Full road closure from 6.00pm until 11.30pm:
- Kingsway from its junction with North Road to its junction with Duke Street.
- Cowbridge Road East from its junction with Cathedral Road to its junction with Westgate Street.
- Tudor Street from its junction with Clare Road to its junction with Wood Street (access for residents & traders will be permitted via Fitzhammon Embankment.)
- Plantagenet Street and Beauchamp Street from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor Street (access for residents & traders will be permitted.)
- The following roads will be closed in their entirety: – Duke Street, Castle St, High Street, St Mary Street, Caroline Street, Wood Street, Central Square, Westgate Street, Quay Street, Guildhall Place, Golate, Park Street, Havelock Street and Scott Road.
- The Council is advising everyone that if there are any safety concerns with the queuing system around Central Station then Wood Street, Westgate Street, Park Street, Havelock Street, St Mary Street, Penarth Road, Saunders Road and Custom House Street will remain closed until the safety concerns are addressed.
The following roads will be closed from 9.00pm until 11.30pm
- Saunders Road from its junction with St Mary Street
- Customhouse Street throughout its length (access to private car parks will be permitted)
- Penarth Road from its junction with Saunders Road to the entrance leading into the rear of the Central Train Station.
Park and Ride – Pentwyn and Cardiff City Centre:
All Park & Ride customers are advised to follow the signage to the available site at the time of their arrival.
The car parks will have a staff presence from 12 Noon, will open at 12.30pm, with the first bus leaving at 12.30pm. The last bus will leave the pick-up point at 11.30pm, with the car park closing at 12 midnight.

Access from Junction 29 off the M4
Drop off Point is Churchill Way
Distance from city centre is four miles.
Cardiff City Stadium (Leckwith) P&R
Access from Junction 33 of the M4, then follow signage to site
Drop off Point is Tresillian Way North (at the rear of Cardiff Central Train Station)
Distance from City Centre is 1.8miles.

Civic Centre: Access to the Civic Centre will be controlled, with access only allowed for concert-goers, loading and access to private car parks. Roads affected include, King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road and Gorsedd Gardens Road.
Civic Centre event day parking (cars) – Exit Junction 32 of the M4, head south on the A470 towards the city centre and follow signs to the Civic Centre. The cost online is £12 a car or £15 to be paid on the day (cash only.)
Concert-goers who wish to park in the Civic Centre overnight can book online for £20 or pay £25 on the day.
Civic Centre event day parking (coaches and mini buses) – cost £20 payable on the day (cash only) and the car park opens at 8am and will close at midnight.
Sophia Gardens (cars only) – Cost £12 pre-book or £15 payable on the day (cash only). Car park opens at 8am and will close at 12 midnight.
Limited disabled parking is available at Sophia Gardens (50 places) free of charge to Blue Badge Holders. Disabled Parking is also available by various private car park operators, please check individual websites for availability.
Shopping Parking – Shoppers are advised to make use of car parks within the city centre area, which include:
North Road Car Parks
St David’s Shopping Centre
John Lewis
Capitol Shopping Centre
NCP – Adam Street, Dumfries Place and Greyfriars Road
National Express – National Express coaches will use Sophia Gardens as usual. Sophia Gardens can only be used for match day parking.
Trains – Customers are advised to take the earliest service possible into Cardiff and to head straight back to the station after the event. Extra capacity will be added to services where possible however this will be very limited and services will be busy. A post event queuing system will be in place after the event. Customers are also advised to take extra notice of the queue plan for this event as the entry points to some of the queues have changed from their usual position.
Buses – will be diverted out of the central city centre bus stops. Bus displaced from stops within the closure will relocate to either Churchill Way for the East. Greyfriars Road for the North or Tudor Street for the West. Please visit www.cardiffbus.co.uk for more information.
Taxis – St Mary Street taxi rank (outside the House of Frazer) will be closed from 6pm and will re-open from 11 30pm.
Mill Lane Taxi Rank is not affected and open throughout the day and night.
