Full Travel Advice For Wales’ Home Coming To Cardiff
A full city centre road closure will be in place in Cardiff from 2.30pm until 5.30pm so that Welsh fans can welcome their heroes home with an open top bus parade.
The Wales Football Team has made history by getting through to the Semi Finals of Euro 2016 and everyone is invited to welcome the team home.
To celebrate their success an open bus tour will take place from Cardiff Castle to Cardiff City Stadium from 4pm until 5.30pm.
The bus will leave the Castle at shortly after 4pm and will drive down High Street, then St Mary Street onto Wood Street, right into Westgate Street, turning left over Canton Bridge, going straight on to Wellington Street, turning left into Leckwith Road, arriving at Cardiff City Stadium at 5.30pm.
To facilitate this, the following roads will be closed:
Full road closure from 2.30pm until 5.50pm
Kingsway from its junction with North Road to its junction with Duke Street.
Tudor Street from its junction with Clare Road to its junction with Wood Street (access for residents & traders will be permitted via Fitzhamon Embankment.)
Plantagenet Street and Beauchamp Street from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor Street (access for residents & traders will be permitted.)
Saunders Road from its junction with St Mary Street
The following roads will be closed in their entirety: – Duke Street, Castle St, High Street, St Mary Street, Caroline Street, Wood Street, Central Square, Westgate Street, Quay Street, Guildhall Place, Golate, Park Street, Havelock Street and Scott Road.
Customhouse Street throughout its length (access to private car parks will be permitted)
Penarth Road from its junction with Saunders Road to the entrance leading into the rear of the Central Train Station.
The road closure times could be extended depending on the number of people that attend the event.
The following roads will be closed from 4.00pm until 6. 00pm
Cowbridge Road East (from Canton Bridge to the junction with Wellington Street), Wellington Street & Leckwith Road.
Due to the expected numbers visiting the Welsh Capital, everyone is being advised to use public transport or the Park & Ride facility. If you choose to drive, please be advised that there will be no public parking at Cardiff City Stadium.
Park and Ride – The Wave Car Park (Cardiff Bay)

Parking – All those that wish to park in Cardiff are advised to park in the Civic Centre (Pay and Display), the Wave car park in Pierhead Street or city centre car parks at:

St David’s Shopping Centre
John Lewis
Capitol Shopping Centre
NCP – Adam Street, Dumfries Place and Greyfriars Road
There will be NO parking at Cardiff City Stadium.
Trains – There will be a queuing system in place at Cardiff Central Train Station and there will be a crowd management system at Grangetown and Ninian Park railway stations from 7.30pm. There will not be additional trains running but additional carriages will be provided where possible. Queen Street train station will remain open as usual.
Buses – will not operate from the usual city centre bus stops. Buses will be displaced from stops within the closure from 2pm until 6pm and will relocate to either Churchill Way for the East, Greyfriars Road for the North or Tudor Street for the West.
