The Cardiff Story Museum is turning 5 years old this weekend and you are invited to celebrate with them at a big birthday party this Saturday April 2nd between 10am-4pm. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

There will be a host of free activities going on throughout the day including music, games, face painting, children’s craft activities, plenty of balloons and badges to give away, and a big birthday cake! ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cabinet Member for Community Development, Cooperatives and Social Enterprise, Cllr Peter Bradbury said: “The museum has become a real community resource since it opened, as well as being invaluable for tourists and visitors to find out about Cardiff, its history and how it has become the city we know today. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“It’s great that the museum team are celebrating this milestone and having a 5th birthday party! There’s plenty for all the family to do and it’s all free of charge. Drop in throughout the day to help them celebrate.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Victoria Rogers, Museum Manager explains: “The Cardiff Story opened in 2011 and until that time Cardiff had never had its own museum that celebrated its own heritage. We worked very much with the community to create a museum that told their story about their city. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Our opening day was only the start of the museum’s life and since then we’ve worked with over 125 different community groups and organisations, we’ve help lever in over £1million of funding for their projects and over a £1million for our own. We have won nine awards, given advice to 20 museums from across the world and almost 200 volunteers have given over 12,000 hours of time to work with us, and we’ve held over 400 events for all the family.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cake Artist, Cara Maiden said: “I am thrilled to have been asked to do the cake for the 5th birthday of The Cardiff Story Museum, an amazing place of interactive learning and stimulation. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“It’s a very special place for me and has a special place in my heart, as it kicked off my career in baking and cake making after I won the Cardiff Story Cardiff Cake off in 2014. Many, many happy returns!!” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

There is lots to find out in the award-winning Cardiff Story Museum and it is open from 10am-4pm every day. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
