Judgement Day – Enhanced Security Measures Will Be In Operation At The Principality Stadium
A full road closure will be in place in Cardiff City Centre from 12.30pm until 8. 00pm on April 30th for Judgement Day at the Principality Stadium. Enhanced security measures will continue to be in operation at the stadium, so all those travelling into the city centre for this event are advised to leave plenty of time for their journey.
With around 66 000 spectators expected to travel into Cardiff for the matches, the atmosphere in Cardiff promises to be electric. Cardiff Blues will kick off proceedings against the Ospreys at 2. 30pm and Newport Gwent Dragons will play the Scarlets at 5. 00pm.
A Spokesman for the City of Cardiff Council advised all those travelling into Cardiff to consider park and ride to make the journey quicker and more enjoyable.
“We advise everyone to consider the park and ride facilities to beat the congestion and make your visit into the city centre quicker and to make it easier.
“Although park & ride can be paid in cash on the day, we can only guarantee availability by booking online, especially at CCFC Leckwith Park & Ride.”
Train Services
All trains into Cardiff are expected to be very busy for this event. Arriva Trains Wales will be providing extra train services, especially to West Wales, Newport, Gloucester and the Marches routes. Customers are advised to take the earliest possible train service possible to Cardiff, advising spectators to leave three hours in advance of kick off, especially on stops on the periphery of Cardiff.
A Spokesman for Arriva Trains Wales said. “Cardiff train stations will be very busy before and after the matches. After the games, customers are advised to make their way back to Cardiff Central Train Station with plenty of time to catch the advertised services and seats will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.”
If safety concerns arise with the queuing system, then the Council will keep the surrounding streets will closed until the safety concerns are resolved.

We strongly advise you identify your queuing lane for your return journey before you attend the event. There will be restricted access to Cardiff Queen Street station after 4. 00pm.
Road Closure Details
From 7am until 8pm – King Edward V11 Avenue will be closed from the junction with City Road to its junction with College Road.
Full road closure from 12.30pm until 8. 00pm:
• Kingsway from its junction with North Road to its junction with Duke Street.
• Cowbridge Road East from its junction with Cathedral Road to its junction with Westgate Street.
• Tudor Street from its junction with Clare Road to its junction with Wood Street (access for residents & traders will be permitted via Fitzhammon Embankment)
• Plantagenet Street and Beauchamp Street from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor Street (access for residents & traders will be permitted)
• Saunders Road from its junction with St Mary Street
• Customhouse Street throughout its length (access to private car parks will be permitted)
• Penarth Road from its junction with Saunders Road to the entrance leading into the rear of the Central Train Station.
• The following roads will be closed in their entirety: – Duke Street, Castle St, High Street, St Mary Street, Caroline Street, Wood Street, Central Square, Westgate Street, Quay Street, Guildhall Place, Golate, Park Street, Havelock Street and Scott Road.
Park and Ride – Pentwyn and Cardiff City Centre:

Access from Junction 29 off the M4
Drop off Point is Churchill Way
Cost: £10 per car payable on the day at the car park
Distance from city centre is four miles
Cardiff City Stadium (Leckwith) P&R
Access from Junction 33 of the M4, then follow signage to site
Drop off Point is Tresillian Way North (at the rear of Cardiff Central Train Station)
Cost: £8 Pre Book Online or £10 payable on the day at the car park (cash only)
Distance from City Centre is 1.8miles.
All Park & Ride customers are advised to follow the signage to the available site at the time of their arrival.
Match-Day Parking – Cars, camper vans and coaches
Civic Centre: Access to the Civic Centre will be controlled, with access allowed for mini buses and coaches only.
All coaches are advised that they have to park in the Civic Centre (£20 a coach) and NOT in Sophia Gardens.
Sophia Gardens: Access to Sophia Gardens will be controlled, and will be allowed for cars only.
We strongly suggest that match day parking is booked online for £12 a car via – www.parkjockey.com/homes/event/4089 . Alternatively you will pay £15 to be paid on the day.
Disabled Parking is available at Sophia Gardens, free of charge to Blue Badge Holders. Disabled Parking is also available by various private car park operators; please check individual websites for availability.
Shopping Parking – Shoppers are advised to make use of car parks within the city centre area, which include:
North Road Car Parks
St David’s Shopping Centre
John Lewis
Capitol Shopping Centre
NCP – Adam Street, Dumfries Place and Greyfriars Road
Shopping Park & Ride will also run from County Hall from 9am until 6pm. Cost £3 per car.
The car parks will have a staff presence from 9am, will open at 9 30am, with the first bus leaving at 9 30pm. The last bus will leave the pick-up point at 9pm, with the car park closing at 9 30pm.
National Express – National Express coaches will use Sophia Gardens as usual. Sophia Gardens can only be used for match day parking.
Buses
Buses will be diverted out of the central city centre bus stops. Bus displaced from stops within the closure will relocate to either Churchill Way for the East. Greyfriars Road for the North or Tudor Street for the West.
Taxis – Night-time closures of Lower St Mary Street and Greyfriars Road will be in effect from 8pm until 4am and taxi marshals will be in place.
St Mary Street Taxi Rank (Outside House of Fraser) will be closed from 2.30pm and re-open from 8pm. Mill Lane Taxi Rank is not affected and open throughout the day and night.
