Lane Restrictions Will Be In Place On Ocean Way Roundabout On August 22nd For Up To Three Weeks

From Monday next week temporary traffic signals will be in operation on Rover Way and Ocean Way to accommodate works at Ocean Way roundabout in Tremorfa as part of the continued construction of the Eastern Bay Link Road. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Traffic will only be able to use the eastern carriageway maintaining local access in the area. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

This Welsh Government scheme has been planned during August as typically this is a quieter time of year on Cardiff’s road network. Drivers are asked to plan their journeys in advance and consider car sharing or use alternative public transport, including park & ride at Pentwyn as alternatives to access the city from the east. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Large trees and vegetation will be removed from the roundabout to allow for the continual development of this vital link road which will improve access on the eastern side of the city. The work also includes numerous road crossings for drainage, communications and telematics for the new junction as well as diverting existing power cables. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Eastern Bay Link Road which is costing £57million will connect the A4232 at the Queensgate roundabout with the Ocean Way roundabout and is expected to be complete by spring 2017.
