Love Where You Live Campaign Moves Into Grangetown Again This Week

The Love Where You Live Campaign is moving into Grangetown having cleared 7.4 tonnes of extra waste in last week’s Butetown Blitz. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Starting early on Monday morning – street cleansing, highways, parks and enforcement officers will be working together again to deep clean parts of the ward. The Blitzes – which are on top of additional cleansing – are working their way around the eight inner wards of the city, on a weekly rotational basis. The outer wards are also receiving additional cleansing in areas of high footfall such as shop fronts. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Last week (September 26 – September 30) the Blitz visited Butetown cleaning up 30 streets and one park removing 7.4 tonnes of waste on top of normal collections. The deep clean involved, cutting back the shrubbery in the children’s playground in Butetown Open Space, cleaning 270 gullies, ensuring fly tipping was removed from private land in Curran Embankment, cleaning Butetown Open Space and fixing 15 defects on the pavements. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Enforcement Team issued six notices for waste being stored in front gardens, carried out six waste enquiries which could lead to a Fixed Penalty Notice of £80 or £100 for each, and is monitoring a number of streets due to residents putting out side waste which isn’t allowed. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
