City of Cardiff Council has announced changes to the waste collection schedule in May because of the bank holidays at the start and the end of the month. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

There will be no collections on the May Day Bank Holiday (May 02, 2016) and the Spring Bank Holiday (May 30, 2016). As a result collections for the rest of those weeks will be staggered by one day. So for the two weeks affected residents should put waste out the day after their normal collection day. Two Saturday collection dates on May 07, 2016 and June 04, 2016 are added to facilitate the changes. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) will be open as normal on both bank holidays but Wedal Road HWRC will be operating at the weekend schedule 10:00 – 18:30. The opening times for Bessemer Close and Lamby Way HWRCs are 07:30 – 18:30. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

A City of Cardiff Council spokesperson said: “Our HWRCs will remain open for both May bank holidays because traditionally they are busy days and very popular with residents. Peak times are between 10am and 3pm and so we advise users to allow themselves extra time if visiting between those times.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Residents who use the HWRCs are required to bring ID to prove that they live in the city and are therefore entitled to use the service. A full list of the accepted forms of ID can be found by visiting: www.cardiff.gov.uk/HWRC ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
