Re-Surfacing Work Will Take Place On Newport Road Next Week

Parts of Newport Road will close From Monday evening next week, to allow for re-surfacing of the carriageway. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

From 7 30pm until 5 30am on Monday evening, Newport Road outbound from the East Grove junction to the City Road junction will be closed. The alternative route will be signposted – down Fitzalan Place, left onto Moira Road, up Glossop Road and back onto Newport Road. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

From 7 30pm until 5 30am on Tuesday evening, Newport Road inbound will close from the City Road junction to the Howard Place junction. Again the diversion will be signposted – with road users advised to travel down Glossop Road, right down Moira Terrace and up Fitzalan Place back onto Newport Road. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The works may continue from Wednesday onwards to complete the resurfacing work, if the weather conditions are poor. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
