A first-of-its-kind Youth Mental Health Network Event comes to East Cardiff today. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The event aims to share ideas and build on partnership working relating to youth mental health issues.
An increase in young people reporting mental health issues in the 14 – 25 age group has prompted the event. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The event is being held in partnership with the ECLP (East Cardiff, Llanedeyrn and Pentwyn) Communities First, Cardiff Youth Service and Cardiff and Vale Public Health Service at St Mellon’s Community Education Centre. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The event will bring together local organisations so that they can ensure there is a real understanding of what services each of them delivers so that any gaps can be easily identified. The event will also provide the opportunity to further enhance day to day working relationships and the development of effective and timely referral pathways. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cabinet Member for Community Development, Co-operatives and Social Enterprise, Cllr Peter Bradbury will be joined by Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary for Health, Well-being and Sport, Vaughan Gething AM to hear about work going on across Cardiff and the Vale to tackle youth mental health issues. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cllr Bradbury said: “The aim of this event is to bring together providers of local services to help develop more joined up delivery planning. We all understand the importance of partnership working and after today’s event, we hope all the different organisations involved will have a better understanding of what information, support and services are needed to support young people with mental health issues across Cardiff and the Vale. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“Events like these that bring organisations together will help ensure the most vulnerable young people in our communities have access to the right kind of help for them and at the right time. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
