Statement On Incident At Whitchurch High School

Headteacher Huw Jones-Williams said: “The school’s procedures were swiftly put into action and both school sites safely evacuated as a precaution. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Everyone in the school’s community is safe and well and all student behaviour on both sites has been exemplary. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“Having worked with South Wales Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to assess the situation, normal operations at the school have now resumed. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“The exam board has been notified and complimented the school on how the situation has been handled. All scheduled exams will take place this afternoon and steps will be taken to ensure that none of the candidates are disadvantaged. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
