Watch Out – There’s A Festival Coming Out Of The Woods!

Watch out for the family festival fun coming Out of the Woods this summer and setting up camp in Sophia Gardens on Saturday August 20th. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Wildlife and woodland activities, junkyard art workshops, willow weaving and storytelling sessions will give the whole family a taste of the great outdoors. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Green-fingered gardeners can pick up some tips from Cardiff & Vale Organic Gardeners and then take home some of the plants that grace the city’s parks from the Bute Park Nursery Plant Sale. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

If you have a pampered Poodle, a silky Spaniel or a lovely Labrador then you could go home with rosettes as well as roses. The ever popular dog show will take place at 12.30pm and registration to take part is free. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

If our feathered friends are more your thing then Festival Park Owl Sanctuary will be on site so you can find out more about their work and see these amazing birds of prey close up. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Bob Derbyshire, said: “I always look forward to the Out of the Woods festival. It’s a great family day out and a fantastic opportunity to discover more about the crafts, traditions and wildlife that spring from our woodlands.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

All that fun is bound to make you hungry and this year (from 2pm) festival goers will be able to step Out of the Woods and straight into the award winning Street Food Circus which is pitching up next door. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Out of the Woods is free to attend and runs from 10.30am to 4.30pm. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
