As part of the project, Wates and the City Council have made a joint pledge to support the employment of approximately 6,400 people and create 9,000 weeks of training for local residents. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Joanne Jamieson, Managing Director of Wates Residential, commented: “This work represents the City of Cardiff Council’s commitment to feeding the requirement for an additional 46,600 homes by 2031* and we are pleased to commence our role as the developer of the flagship ‘Cardiff Living’ programme. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“These new homes will provide enhanced living environments that will meet high levels of sustainability and energy efficiency for the city’s residents. Crucially, our work also enables us to make a significant contribution to local economic and social development through a comprehensive employment and training programme.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Cabinet Member for Health, Housing and Wellbeing, Cllr Susan Elsmore: “As Cardiff continues to grow, it’s essential that people have access to good quality, affordable housing and this exciting partnership with Wates is about building the right homes in the right places throughout the city to help tackling the current housing need. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“More than that, we are creating sustainable communities and also contributing to making Cardiff a more livable city so I’m delighted that we have reached another significant milestone in this major regeneration project. I look forward to watching the project develop across Cardiff.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
