Work Begins On First 192 Homes Of 1,500 For Cardiff

National developer, Wates Residential, has commenced work on the first 192 homes of the City of Cardiff Council’s flagship house building programme, which will see the development of 1,500 homes across 40 sites. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Silvervale Park development at Willowbrook West in St Mellons will see the creation of 192 mixed tenure homes including 58 new affordable properties and 134 homes for sale on the open market, with completion expected in 2020. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

A further 106 mixed tenure homes, due for completion in 2019 are now also being built at Braunton Crescent and Clevedon Road in Llanrumney, including 40 affordable homes and 66 for market sale. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

A further three development sites have been approved as part of the first phase of our ‘Cardiff Living’ development programme, comprising eight homes in Old St Mellons, 31 homes in Llanrumney and 16 homes in Llanishen. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Designed to tackle growing demand for housing in the city, ‘Cardiff Living’ is a ten-year partnership between the City of Cardiff Council and Wates Residential and is set to create approximately 600 council homes for rent or assisted home ownership and a further 900 for sale on the open market. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

As part of the project, Wates and the City Council have made a joint pledge to support the employment of approximately 6,400 people and create 9,000 weeks of training for local residents. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
