Nationwide recognition for Cardiff Met marketing students
Three Cardiff Met students have reached the final of a prestigious national marketing competition.
Chris Djiallis, Neirin Millard and Joseph Anderson, who are all 3rd year BA Marketing Management students, have reached the final of the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s ‘Pitch 2016’ competition which is designed to recognise and reward the marketing talent of the future.
The Cardiff School of Management students reached the final after writing a marketing plan for convenience food company, Rustlers. The trio were tasked with overcoming research indicating that negative product taste perception is the key barrier limiting sales growth.
Chris, Neirin and Joseph wrote a marketing plan focused on creating an emotional appeal for individuals aged 18 to 24 through playing a mobile phone game accessed via an augmented reality app.
The trio will now face 20 of the other top teams from across the UK and will pitch their idea to a panel of industry experts.
Speaking about this accomplishment, Head of Department for Marketing and Strategy at Cardiff Met, Dr Paula Kearns said:
“At Cardiff Met we have developed a centre of marketing excellence within the Cardiff School of Management – as is clearly evidenced in this latest achievement by three of our final year students.
“On behalf of everyone in the Marketing department, I would like to congratulate these students for their efforts so far and wish them all the very best for the finals.”
